Key Dates in the Charlesworth Business Plan Competition 2020 process

 

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE BUSINESS PLAN COMPETITION WILL NOT TAKE PLACE ON THURSDAY 21 MAY 2020.

WE ARE STILL ACCEPTING SUBMISSIONS.

UPDATES WILL BE PROVIDED IN DUE COURSE.

 

Here is an overview of the next stages of the competition and dates for the diary:

Thursday 9th April   -  8 shortlisted applicants announced - POSTPONED

Thursday 16th April  -  A session with Graham Leslie - POSTPONED

W/C 20th April  -  Meeting with the 8 shortlisted applicants at their business premises to look over their business plans - POSTPONED

Friday 1st May  -  4 finalist Announced - POSTPONED

Thursday 7th May  -  Pitch training with Martin Avison, founder and director of angelgroups funding platform - POSTPONED

Thursday 21st May  -  Final at Huddersfield University - POSTPONED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE

 
Graham Leslie

We are delighted that Graham has agreed to spend time with our 8 finalists again this year, last years' finalists were inspired by thier time with Graham.

Graham is the founder and chairman of Europe’s first 25,000 all seater stadium for soccer and rugby, created in Huddersfield.

As one of Yorkshire’s and the UK’s most celebrated successful philanthropic business people, Graham has mentored many companies in various forms of difficulty and insolvency and turned them into exceedingly profitable businesses.

The variety of companies spreads from Digital PIX Photography, Engineering APEX Developing Homes, Rural  deli service stations, Country Inns to the UKs first Social Energy company providing renewable green Energy to all UK Homes and Businesses on a global Platform now worth over £500million.

Serial entrepreneur and Residential Professor of Enterprise and Entrepreneurship at the University of Huddersfield, Graham was recently honoured by Her Majesty the Queen with a CBE for his support and mentoring of entrepreneurs within the UK.

You may remember Martin was on our judging panel last year. This year Martin has agreed to spend time coaching our four finanlists on the art of pitching.

Martin is the founder of angelgroups, an Angel Investment network with groups across the North of England. Each group runs monthly pitching events where a number of businesses of all stages and sectors pitch for funding and/or support. In addition to the pitching events, angelgroups also has an online platform where businesses can create their own company.
