Meet the 2020 CBGS Business Plan Competition Judges
The Judging Panel:
Our specialist panel of local business expert judges comprises:
Born in Huddersfield, David is a Chartered Accountant & Tax Adviser and Member of the Academy of Experts. He is Managing Director of Wheawill & Sudworth, a leading independent firm of Business Advisers in West Yorkshire.
David specialises in providing support and guidance on commercial and financial matters to a wide range of businesses, from start-ups through to major corporations. He adopts a pragmatic and collegiate approach to ‘getting the job done'.
A very warm welcome to new judge Gill Heleine, the co-owner and director of Manzana Contracts (UK) Ltd a bespoke joinery and metalwork manufacturer, based in Huddersfield.
As a business owner Gill has to deal with the multiple challenges everyday business throws at her, and there's certainly no room in her vocabulary for the words "can’t do". If pushed Gill would say her specialities are looking after the money, solving problems and keeping her business systems on track.
Outside work she focuses on her personal wellbeing by practising Iyengar yoga and pilates.
John Thompson is Emeritus Professor of Entrepreneurship at the University of Huddersfield. Author of a number of books on strategy and entrepreneurship, he was responsible for several local enterprise and start-up initiatives - beginning with the Huddersfield Business Generator in 2000. In 2009 he received the Queen's Award for Enterprise Promotion.
Martin founded P2 Technologies in 2007, together with an earlier business colleague. The company is focused on delivering high quality IT services for the professional sector, predominantly to law firms and accountancy practices whether that be on premises, cloud or a mixture of both. Today the business supports around 1,800 computers and 250 servers for its customers and, to give the peace of mind its clients rightly expect, P2 Technologies invests heavily in training for its staff and systems to keep clients systems operational. Many of the customers that worked with the company when it started are still working with them today - a true testament to Martin and his colleagues' service dedication.
